Happy 17 months

Our sweet little man has been with us for 17 months. Time has flown by and you have grown into a gorgeous, loving and happy boy. You have grown up so fast. No longer a little baby, you amaze us daily with your understanding and loving nature that you share around with snuggles and big kisses. You bring chaos to our house with your wild ways, loud screams and deep chuckly laugh. You have a mountain goat ability, that you display daily. You show no fear with conquering heights and equipment at the park. You have a love of food and can devour just as much as the girls. You have just started to have little tantrums when you don't get your own way and stomp off down the hall to the girls bedroom. But thankfully you recover pretty quickly and are back to your bright, bubbly self in no time. You have turned our relatively quite and peaceful house upside down but we love our "bubba" to the moon and back and wouldn't change you for the world!

Some of your favourite words;

  • kick it
  • get it
  • all gone
  • love you
  • night night
  • Daddy
  • Mummy
  • Georgia
  • Charlie
  • juice
  • ya - for shower
  • wee
  • Santa
  • quack quack
  • teddy
  • hello
  • no
  • ready

Your favourite things;

  • Charlie - the poor tormented dog tolerates your wild ways because of the food you slip over the side of the table to him at meal times
  • The girls - Georgia & Annabel
  • Your blanket that you call night night
  • Being outside and running around barefooted
  • sitting beside your Daddy on the lounge
  • food
  • Going to the park

Some of things you are doing;

  • dancing
  • clapping
  • comfortably using a spoon and fork when eating
  • climbing
  • singing
  • giving cuddles and kisses
  • making animal noises - ducks, monkey, tiger
  • able to point to your mouth, ear, eyes, nose and fingers

The Big Man in Red

We had a couple of visits to Santa over the last week. The first one was at the playgroup Christmas party. Archie wasn't fussed and cried through the whole proceeding and Annabel was quiet happy to stand beside him but she was not going any where near his knee....

Fast forward 3 days and we got a lovely photo taken with Santa at the shopping centre. Archie still didn't want to have much to do with him but the photographer was able to distract him with bubbles and chocolate! The girls even told Santa what they wanted for Christmas - Georgia wants the Tinkerbell DVD and Annabel wants Diamond Castle Barbie. I think their wishes may even come true!!!

Home..home...home

We are back from our little holiday down the coast. Its such a lovely part of the world. We hung out with friends, watched whales frolic in the water below our cabin, visited Eden and hung out at the Tathra Pub, visited the local bowling club for dinner (this was a highlight for the kids as they picked us up in a mini bus), swam in the pool, bounced on the pillow and swam at the beach and celebrated 4 birthdays and a wedding anniversary. We had a fabulous time....

Whale watching on the headland

Family time..hanging out

Talking to the locals and running amok

Lots of swimming, including the little man's first time at the beach

A bit of resting.....

Goodbye Baby Tooth

Annabel lost her first tooth yesterday. And not under normal circumstances. At 18 months of age she fell over her dolls pram and smashed her little tooth back into her gum. The dentists told us nothing could be done until it fell out. Fast forward to two months ago when we discovered an abscess on her gum. One dentist wanted to conduct root canal on her - they expected a 4 year old to sit still while they drilled her tooth!! We sought a second opinion from a pediatric dentists who decided to completely remove it..
It was all done under a GA and she was incredibly brave.......
The tooth fairy paid a visit last night and left her some money, which she has put in her piggy bank to buy us all Xmas pressies (aww sweet).
The husband of one of our friends thinks that its great..as he will now be able to tell the girls apart. (Thanks Nick).

Waiting to go in

Afterwards an icy pole helps

Itty Bitty Crocs...

The boy needed some shoes to wear in the garden. I don't think his leather sandal's were up to slopping in the dogs water bowl! I found these in target and just had to share. They are so cute and not to mention tiny!! Size 3/4...perfect for summer and the little man's intro to the beach at the end of the month!

We took them for a test drive in the backyard.....

they were fast.....

This is how he spends some of his day...

......Peering out his bedroom window looking for birds and yes...we have a climber. He is not afriad of anything and if its high..then its designed to be climbed!!!!

Spring time......

Spring wouldn't be the same without a visit to Floriade. We went a few times with friends and spent our time hanging our with the tulips and the petting paddock.

Some Recent Photos

Nothing exciting happening in our world at the moment. Its school holidays, the weather is beautiful and we are off to Floriade tomorrow so I will be back with some more photos later. But I did get a job and I suppose after 4 years of mat leave that is pretty exciting. The girls are a bit concerned and Annabel keeps telling me "but Mummies don't work" and "who is going to look after me." Its just weekend work and I get to surround myself with new kitchens, bathrooms and laundries (that we can't afford) at this place . It will be nice to do something different.

Goodbye 3...Hello 4!!!

The girls turned 4 today. Wow I am not entirely sure where the last 4 years have gone?? They have grown up so quick. They started life early and have turned into two very special little girls. They have a bond that only twins can have, which includes an amazing sense of love and devotion for one another. We love you to bits. You make us laugh so much with your quirky little English ways (HP brown sauce and cheese sandwiches) and northern accents. Happy Birthday sweet girls. We hope the next 12 months are as fun and as happy as the last XOXO.

We met our mothers group at The Botanical Gardens and spent hours floating sticks down the stream and chasing fairies through the rain forests. Here are some photos of our special morning;

Funny Things Nearly 4 Year Olds Say.....

The girls are coming out with some funny things at the moment. And they are loving the word WHY?... Why do we need clothes?, Why do we need shoes? Why do we have grass??...the questions are endless

The other day we were walking home from the park and Annabel and I were having a conversation about her hair. We have been having some real hair battles and I have threatened to cut it short if she doesn't let me brush it.

Annabel: (tipping her chin towards the sky and shaking her hair) Mum my hair is very long now

Mum: Yes it is and that is why we need to take special care of it

Annabel: But I don't want hair down to my bum as I will wee on it.

Mum: Laughing...well we can't have that!!

We were in Target the other day and I decided I was going to treat my self to some nice underwear. The girls were helping me pick out some bras. I picked up one and I hear this little voice;

Georgia: Mum you have chicken boobs (she meant chicken fillets that I wore under a dress to a wedding recently)

Mum: Going bright red and trying to provide her with a whispered yes and hoping that we would move on quickly..

Georgia: But Mum you have chicken boobs (louder this time)..don't you?

Mum: Yes I do

Georgia: But Mum you have chicken boobs (Louder again)

By this stage I couldn't hightail it out of the lingerie section fast enough as women around me were cracking up at my nearly 4 year old giving away my chicken fillet secret.

Happy 1st Birthday Archie

From this.......

Opening pressies......

Scoffing Birthday cake....

Playing with new toys.....what better way to spend your 1st Birthday!

Our baby boy..(also known as Big Boy) turned 1 today. Its hard to believe that you have been with us for 12 months. You kept us waiting and entered this world 8 days late. Unfortunately you didn't stay a little baby for long and were soon on the move, chasing your big sisters. We love you dearly with your beautiful big blue eyes that melt our hearts, your cheeky grin, your loving nature with your endless snuggles and big open mouth kisses and infectious little chuckle that we hear when the three of you are into mischief. You are a happy boy who goes with the flow and is doted on by your family, particularly your big sisters. We are so glad you chose us.

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY SWEET MAN xo

This has become our new best friend...

We need shares in baby panadol at the moment. The little man has two middle ear infections, a sore throat and he also threw us into mild panic last night with a purple rash, which was thankfully due to his high temp. We were lucky that one of the dads of the kids on Michael's football team (that is a bit long winded) is a Doctor and he offered to open his surgery and look at Archie rather than waiting hours in emergency. What service!!!

We did do some cooking today (well I did..the girls are coughing too much to be any where need food) and I have to share this recipe. I had seen this recipe around blog land (I just can't remember which blog) and thought it was the perfect thing for afternoon tea on a cold winters day. It went down a treat and got the thumbs up from the 3 little monkeys.

Bostun Bun Recipe

1 cup of warm mashed potato

1 cup of mixed fruit / sultanas (we chopped up some apricots and also added choc chips)

3/4 cup castor sugar

2 cups SR flour

1 tspn mixed spice

few drops of vanilla essence

Heat oven to 200 deg Celsius and grease ring tin or round cake tin

Combine potato and sugar. Add all remaining ingredients and mix well. Bake for 35-45 mins or when cooked. Allow to cool in the tin and then ice with vanilla icing and sprinkle with coconut. (As you can see in the photo..I was too impatient to allow it to cool before I iced..whoops a bad chef. You wouldn't know that I did a semester as a chef as part of my Hotel Management degree)

My Worst Fears....

have been confirmed. Annabel wants to do ballet!!! We borrowed an Angelina Ballerina DVD off our friend Bee and sine then Annabel prances, twirls and spins her way round the house. Last night I asked her if she wanted to go to dancing and she said yes..."I want to do ballet." Georgia is not so keen and she wants to just go and watch. I think we will look at some sort of movement/dance class (sigh..). Maybe this one..
